If you’re passing through Old Towne Petersburg be sure to stop by Dixie. This landmark breakfast and lunch establishment has been the heart of Old Towne Petersburg since the 1920s and is the local favorite that specializes in traditional southern eats. Menu items include their famous Dixie Dog, fried Salt Herring, and Chicken and Dumplings. Don’t forget to try the made from scratch Pimento Cheese, Ham Salad, and Chicken Salad. Saucy’s is a take-out stand famous for its homemade barbecue, ribs, and sides. Near the historic Petersburg, it is found in a converted container right near the historic district in Petersburg. The Horseshoe Restaurant is South Hill’s Classic Diner. Since the 1930s it has been offering Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner six days a week to a devoted following.
